Three steps.

  1. 1

    Install

Per-user, no admin password required. Adds a desktop shortcut and a Start Menu entry. The installer doesn't touch system folders or registry root.

Beta builds aren't code-signed (signing lands at v1.0). Windows SmartScreen will flag it as "Unrecognized app" — click More info then Run anyway. If Windows 11 Smart App Control is enabled the installer won't launch at all; temporarily toggle SAC off to install. Once v1.0 ships signed, both warnings disappear.

  2. 2

    Plug in your stick

USB or USB-via-gameport-adapter. Make sure it's powered. Close any sim or controller-config tool that might already own the device (joy.cpl, Logitech Profiler, MSFS, DCS, X-Plane).

  3. 3

    Run, review, then share

The wizard takes about five minutes. After the run you can open the HTML report, inspect the JSON payload, and click Share only if you're comfortable sending it.

Linux x64 Coming soon

The Linux build (AppImage, evdev/sysfs capability scans) is in active development for v0.9. Watch the release manifest or leave your email on the post-run screen for a heads-up.

System requirements

What you need

  • Windows 10 or later for the DirectInput live-effect wizard.
  • A force-feedback joystick with power connected and room to move.
  • No .NET install required. Release binaries are self-contained.
  • No automatic upload. Local reports are written whether or not you share anything later.

Run the probe. It takes about five minutes.

The wizard checks the stick, plays live effects, records what you felt, and writes local report files you can inspect before sharing.
